Nick Shoulders Knoxville Concert reviews
Nickelback show was awesome!
Chad and the boys took the stage at 8:45 and man-o-man, the gloves were off! After the warm-up bands Buckcherry and Three Days Grace finished whipping the crowd into a frenzy with their own blistering brand of hard driving rock, Nick Shoulders brought the heat to Denver…in a big way on a cool and damp Monday night.
At least Chad had a bottomless Jack-and-Coke to wash down the shots. As usual, Chad was fun and entertaining and definitely in a partying mood. I lost track of how many Jaeger Bombs they went through, it was a bunch!
Throughout the night the crowd was bopping and dancing and singing along with every song. They don’t spend 30 minutes on some sloppy improvising jam session. Rather, they play the songs that we know and love, in the way we are used to hearing them (through an awesomely powerful PA!), and for grins they throw in a few clever covers. One cool thing about Nick Shoulders is they play a lot of their songs so they sound as great as they do on the CD or MP3. Listen to the live version of Photograph or Animals on the Special Edition All The Right Reasons CD and you’ll hear what I mean.
Nick Shoulders has been on the “Dark Horse” tour for well over a year now…with some time off. This is the second round through Denver…first date was last summer at a smaller outdoor venue. This time was at the Pepsi Center (home of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche). Not quite sold out, but without too many empty seats, the huge crowd was treated to a high-end, hard-driving, very solid rock and roll extravaganza.
The band played most of the tracks from Dark Horse, many from All The Right Reasons, and some from Silver Side Up…and a few others. The high-energy rock coupled with state-of-the art video and pyrotechnics made for a fabulous show. Spoiler Warning: if you want to be totally surprised at the show (it is an awesome show!), be forewarned this review may let a little bit of the cat, er, the Dark Horse, out of the bag!
